This website has been created to help town citizens participate in the planning and design of a new place right in the middle of Town. The place we are designing is on parcels commonly referred to as the Hassell, Batey, and Sloan Tracts between Rife Range Road and Hungryneck Boulevard. This is where the big oak tree is in Rifle Range Road next to the funeral home and back behind the Wal-Mart shopping center called Wando Crossing. This land is about 110 acres.
The Town will be building a new section of Hungryneck Boulevard through this property connecting the existing Hungryneck Boulevard and Bowman Road. We hope this street can be designed as a walkable street through our property so we can create an interesting public Main Street for the Town. We also envision neighborhoods adjacent to the Main Street. Our site is a missing piece of the Town and can create new street connections that will give residents more ways to get around - whether on a bike, driving, or walking.
We are designing this place in a completely open process so residents can understand the choices before us and help make decisions about how the Main Street and neighborhoods are designed. This seems like a unique opportunity for the Town.
To stay informed all you need to do is check this website regularly. Here you will find a list of every single meeting or event related to planning and design of this place. We hope you can join us in this work. If you can't you will find everything we do on this website so there will be no reason to be in the dark about this development.
Please sign in on this website and we will send you periodic e-mails to remind you of important meetings or when we have any special news to pass on. Please tell you neighbors about this site - the more people that participate the better.
